OLYMPIC swimming legend Dawn Fraser has thrown her support behind mining magnate Gina Rinehart amid the sponsorship scandal that's left Netball Australia on the brink of financial disaster. Fraser, a four-time gold medallist and one of the country's most celebrated athletes, also said she feared that Australia's richest person would now stop sponsoring sport.

NMDC in discussions to acquire minority stake in Australian lithium block
NMDC started negotiations to acquire the stake in one of the mines owned by Hancock Prospecting (HPPL) or Hawthorn Resources. According to an official, NMDC could take a minority stake in one of the mines owned by Hancock or Hawthorn Resources, since a 'majority stake would require billions of dollars' Hawthorn Resources currently owns projects such as the Anglo-Saxo, Edjudina, Black Raven Mining and Mount Baven projects while Hancock recently formed a joint venture with Atlas Iron/ Hancock Prospecting and Legacy in the Mt Bevan magnetite project. NMDC aims to have an iron ore production capacity of 100 million tonnes by FY30.

NMDC to explore iron ore, critical mineral mining possibilities in Australia’s Mt. Bevan
The PSU miner, through its Perth-based subsidiary, Legacy Iron Ore, has entered into a joint venture with a prospecting company, Hancock. A subsidiary of Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting will pay an initial Australian $9 million to earn a stake in the “Mt Bevan” iron ore project, owned by Hawthorn Resources and Legacy Minerals.
