Hedland Amateur Swimming Club ready for exciting summer season

Following a successful winter campaign, Hedland swimmers have returned to the pool ready for a strong calendar of summer events.
The Hedland Amateur Swimming Club began their summer campaign by competing in the three-day Kimberley Open Short Course event in Broome last month.
A successful trip saw 15 swimmers winning a collection of medals and achieving more than 25 personal bests as they battled against swimmers from as far south as Busselton to as far north as Derby.
Following on from a successful trip, the club travelled down to Wickham for the Northern Regional Short Course Championship on October 15 at the Wickham Recreation Precinct.
The club finished with the second highest number of personal bests with 52, just eight short of Karratha’s 60, as well as taking out several finals including James Roser, 16, who won the men’s 100m and 200m individual medley events.
“I love seeing how the club has changed recently where the swimmers have moved from just swimming to keep fit to it now being an absolute passion to train each day and counting down to the next upcoming competition or club race afternoon,” said HASC president Kylie Beattie.
HASC coach Brendan Roser said he was excited to see the swimmers compete over the summer.
“As a coach it is always satisfying to watch the swimmers compete and achieve their personal best times especially after all the hard work and dedication they have shown over the winter months,” he said.
“Bring on summer.”
Swimmers from the Hedland Amateur Swim Club will travel to Karratha for the region’s biggest competition, the Hancock Prospecting Pilbara Championships, on November 25-27.
