Gina Rinehart’s Atlas Iron has been recognised for its commitment to prioritising the health and safety of its people after being awarded the WELL Health-Safety rating.
The award is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all new and existing buildings, focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans in a post-COVID environment.
Cleaning contractors employed by Atlas can only use cleaning products that contain less hazardous ingredients. Everyone who resides at the Sanjiv Ridge operation, 240km from Port Hedland, can participate in annual training of CPR, first aid and the use of defibrillators.
“Our Sanjiv Ridge mining operation is the first mine site in the world to be awarded the WELL Health-Safety Rating, which reinforces our commitment to prioritising the health, safety and comfort of our people,” Hancock Prospecting chief executive of group operations Gerhard Veldsman said.
