This wonderful project has been designed and built to honour those Australian and Republic of South Korea Veterans who served in the Korean War. Hancock Prospecting, Roy Hill, and their Executive Chairman Mrs Gina Rinehart AO are proud to support this important Memorial.
Mrs Rinehart was represented at the event by Hancock Prospecting’s CEO Operations, Gerhard Veldsman. Also in attendance were many veterans from across Hancock companies.
Mr Veldsman spoke of the sacrifice that our veterans made during the War and emphasised how the strong bond forged between our two countries during the conflict endures to this day. He thanked the 35+ Korean War Veterans who were present at the ceremony for their service and sacrifice. He also acknowledged and thanked the Korean War Memorial Committee (KWMC) for their efforts in bringing the Memorial to fruition.
Other dignitaries present included the Hon. Roger Cook MLA, Premier of Western Australia, H.E. Ambassador ADML (Retd) Sim Seungseob, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Dr In-hwa Chang, POSCO Group Chairman and senior Australian Defence Force personnel.
