Atlas’ Wodgina project is located approximately 100km south of Port Hedland via the Great Northern Highway. Atlas acquired 100% of the iron ore rights to the project area from Talison Minerals Pty Ltd (now Global Advanced Metals) in February 2008. This project became the main focus of Atlas’ exploration efforts from the commencement of drilling in late 2008 to the commissioning of the Wodgina DSO mine in July 2010.
As at 30 June 2014, the Wodgina mine had a Mineral Resource of 40.3Mt (2.5Mt measured, 20.8Mt indicated and 17Mt inferred) and an Ore Reserve of 16.8Mt (0.2Mt proved and 16.6Mt probable). Since 1 July 2014, approximately 5.6Mt has been mined from Wodgina. Since commencing production, approximately 22Mt of ore have been mined (as at June 2015).
Wodgina has a remaining life of mine of approximately two years (as at June 2015), subject to ultimate production rates targeting Atlas’ Standard Fines product. The mine has a remaining average strip ratio of approximately 0.85 to 1, waste to ore.
