Cliff Lawrenson

Managing Director

Mr Cliff Lawrenson joined Atlas in January 2017. Prior to this Mr Lawrenson was Managing Director of early-stage phosphate producer Avenira Limited (formerly Minemakers Limited) from 2012 and ended that role in January, 2017. Mr Lawrenson has led Avenira from exploration to early stage production.

Mr Lawrenson joined Avenira Limited after holding the position of Chief Executive Officer of Pilbara iron ore development company FerrAus Limited, which he led to a recommended takeover by Atlas Iron Limited in December 2011. Mr Lawrenson held the position of Group Chief Executive Officer of GRD Limited from 2006 to 2009. GRD incorporated GRD Minproc Limited, OceanaGold Limited and Global Renewables. Prior to joining GRD Limited, Mr Lawrenson was a senior executive and vice president of CMS Energy Corporation in the United States of America and Singapore for seven years.

Mr Lawrenson has worked extensively in investment banking around the world and holds postgraduate qualifications in Finance and Strategy. He has served on several boards in international locations, leading the development and financing of numerous major infrastructure projects. He has been Non-Executive Chairman of ASX-listed Pacific Energy Limited since August 2010.


Chris Els B. Com (Hons), CA

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Els is a finance executive with over twenty-five years’ industry experience spanning mining, manufacturing, agribusiness, business services and fast-moving consumer goods in Australia, South Africa, Brazil and Eritrea. His areas of expertise include amongst others business and financial strategy development, equity, project and debt funding, investor relations, M&A, corporate governance and statutory and covenant compliance.

Prior to joining Atlas Iron, Mr. Els held Chief Financial Officer positions in Danakali Ltd, Mirabela Nickel and Norilsk Nickel (Australia). He also held the position of Company Secretary at Danakali Ltd and Mirabela Nickel Ltd.

Mr. Els is also an associate member of the UK-based Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA) and a member of the Certified Practising Accountants of Australia (CPA).

He has a proven track record of delivering at an operational level, maximising profit and improving business operations through optimising business systems and processes.


Mark Hancock B.Bus, CA, FFin

Chief Commercial Officer

Mr Hancock joined Atlas in 2006 and has filled a variety of senior finance and commercial roles since that time.

Mr Hancock has played a pivotal role in Atlas’ mergers, acquisitions and asset disposals. He is also on the front line of Atlas’ iron ore sales activity, which has enabled the Company to consistently maximise its revenue and profit margins. Mr Hancock is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience. He commenced his career in public practice and subsequently held senior financial management roles across a variety of industries in Australia and South East Asia with companies including Woodside Petroleum, Premier Oil and Lend Lease.

Mr Hancock is a Director of Centaurus Metals Limited (ASX:CTM).


Jeremy Sinclair B.Eng (Mining), MAusIMM

Chief Operating Officer

Mr Sinclair is a Mining Engineer with over 20 years of experience in surface mining operations. Prior to commencing with Atlas, Mr Sinclair held key management roles within Rio Tinto Iron Ore in their Pilbara operations. Previously Mr SInclair has spent time consulting to the mining industry and also working in other operational roles in large scale operations mining nickel, iron ore and gold. Mr Sinclair brings to Atlas key management experience and expertise in mine planning, production systems and operational execution.


Bronwyn Kerr LLB (Hons), BA, FCIS

General Counsel and Company Secretary

Ms Kerr is a legal and governance professional with over ten years' experience. Prior to joining Atlas, Ms Kerr worked for a leading international law firm where she advised companies in relation to mining and infrastructure projects as well as a broad range of corporate matters.

Ms Kerr is admitted to practice as a lawyer in Western Australia and holds post-graduate qualifications in finance and corporate governance. Ms Kerr was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Kalparrin in 2013, and chairs Kalparrin's Governance Committee.
