The Mt Webber mine, located approximately 230km (via road) south-southeast of Port Hedland, was opened on 15 July 2014 following completion of Stage 1 of the project (3Mtpa). Construction of Stage 2 was complete in late 2014, taking production capacity to 6Mtpa.
As at 30 June 2014, the Mt Webber mine had a Mineral Resource of 63Mt (35.7Mt measured, 26.1Mt indicated and 1.5Mt inferred) and an Ore Reserve of 55Mt (33.7Mt proved and 21.1Mt probable). Since 30 June 2014, approximately 1.8Mt has been mined from Mt Webber.
Mine life is estimated to be between approximately 8 and 9 years (as at June 2015) depending on mine plans and ultimate production rates. Mt Webber has a remaining average strip ratio of approximately 0.25 to 1 waste to ore ratio.
The Mt Webber project spans mining tenement M45/1209 and the northern adjoining mining tenement M45/1197. Atlas owns 100% of the iron ore mine (with a third party partially holding non-iron ore mineral rights).
