The Western Creek DSO Project (Atlas 100%) is located 15km west of BHP Billiton's Mt Whaleback mine. Drilling by BHP on the project during the early 1990's intersected good iron enrichment, with results such as 36m at 59.2% Fe and 21m at 59.2% Fe. The project area contains 3km of highly prospective Marra Mamba Formation, which the Company believes has the potential to host an exploration target of 13 to 21 million tonnes at 56 to 59% Fe. In addition there are other iron targets within Western Creek including multiple CID's and enriched banded iron formation.
Drilling by Warwick Resources in 2009 returned a number of strong results, including 28m at 59.6% Fe, 26m at 59.1% Fe and 20m at 59.2% Fe. In November 2009 Warwick Resources reported an initial Inferred resource estimate at Western Creek of 19.1 million tonnes at 55.1% Fe, reported at a 50% Fe cut-off. This includes a higher-grade component of 10.8 million tonnes at 58.0% Fe. Mineralisation remains open to the northwest, with potential for modest increases in the resource following further drilling.
For more detail on drilling results please refer to Warwick's ASX announcements of 31 August, 14 September and 26 November 2009.
